How do I prepare phones before recording?
Use this pre-service checklist to avoid the most common recording problems.
Before you start
- Make sure you are signed in to NodeCam on the phone you are using.
- Open the correct recording session before changing settings or recording.
- If you are working with volunteers, confirm who is the session owner and who is contributing a camera angle.
Steps
- Charge every phone or connect it to power.
- Check available iPhone storage before the service.
- Open NodeCam on each phone and sign in before volunteers are busy.
- Grant camera and microphone access when iOS asks.
- Join the correct session on every phone.
- Put all phones on the same reliable WiFi network when possible.
- Choose and verify the recording angle before the service starts.
- Keep NodeCam open and the phone unlocked during recording and on-site transfer.
- Avoid direct sunlight, hot windowsills, thick cases, or other heat traps.
What to expect
- The Recording Session screen should show the camera preview and recording controls.
- The app may show sync, storage, compatibility, or thermal warnings before or during recording.
Common gotchas
- Low storage can stop recording or prevent saving.
- Leaving the app, locking the phone, or losing power can interrupt a camera angle.
- Guest WiFi networks sometimes isolate devices from each other and reduce sync quality.
If you still need help
Contact NodeCam support with your session name, device model, iOS version, and a screenshot of any warning or error message. Do not delete recordings until upload, export, or transfer has been verified.
