How do I create my first recording session?
Create a new NodeCam session for a church service, choose the basic recording options, and get ready to invite cameras.
Before you start
- Make sure you are signed in to NodeCam on the phone you are using.
- Open the correct recording session before changing settings or recording.
- If you are working with volunteers, confirm who is the session owner and who is contributing a camera angle.
Steps
- Open NodeCam and go to the Sessions screen.
- Tap Create New Session or the plus button.
- Enter a clear Session Name, such as “Sunday 10 AM Service.”
- Add an optional description for service notes, room name, or production details.
- Choose Portrait or Landscape under Camera Orientation. Use Landscape for most worship-service and sermon recordings.
- Choose Transfer Mode: Cloud Upload if you want videos to upload after recording, or On-Site Transfer if you will move files with NodeCam Desktop.
- Choose video encoding settings that every phone in the team can support.
- Tap Create, then open the new Session Details screen.
What to expect
- The session appears as Active on the Session Details screen.
- Owners see contributor, invite, session video, export, and delete sections.
- Contributors see a simpler Recording Session view focused on joining and recording.
Common gotchas
- Do not choose 4K, high frame rates, or ProRes unless every recording phone supports those settings.
- If church internet is slow, choose On-Site Transfer before recording rather than switching workflows afterward.
- Use a consistent session naming pattern so volunteers and editors can find the correct service later.
If you still need help
Contact NodeCam support with your session name, device model, iOS version, and a screenshot of any warning or error message. Do not delete recordings until upload, export, or transfer has been verified.
