How do I choose between Cloud Upload and On-Site Transfer?
Pick the right post-recording transfer workflow for your church internet, team, and editing timeline.
Before you start
- Make sure you are signed in to NodeCam on the phone you are using.
- Open the correct recording session before changing settings or recording.
- If you are working with volunteers, confirm who is the session owner and who is contributing a camera angle.
Steps
- Choose Cloud Upload if the church has reliable upload bandwidth and you want files available remotely.
- Choose On-Site Transfer if internet is slow, files are huge, or an editor is collecting footage at the church.
- Set the Transfer Mode when creating the session.
- For Cloud Upload, plan to keep phones online after recording while uploads finish.
- For On-Site Transfer, plan to use NodeCam Desktop with the phones open and unlocked.
- Tell volunteers which workflow you chose before recording starts.
What to expect
- Cloud sessions queue uploads after recording.
- On-site sessions keep recordings on each iPhone until transferred to NodeCam Desktop.
- On-site mode still needs internet access to verify access in the desktop workflow.
Common gotchas
- Do not assume files are safe just because the service ended; verify upload or desktop transfer.
- Changing your mind after recording may create extra manual work.
- Large 4K or ProRes files may be much faster to collect on site than upload.
If you still need help
Contact NodeCam support with your session name, device model, iOS version, and a screenshot of any warning or error message. Do not delete recordings until upload, export, or transfer has been verified.
