Why did I see a temperature or performance warning?
Respond to heat and performance warnings before they interrupt a church recording.
Before you start
- Make sure you are signed in to NodeCam on the phone you are using.
- Open the correct recording session before changing settings or recording.
- If you are working with volunteers, confirm who is the session owner and who is contributing a camera angle.
Steps
- If possible, lower resolution, frame rate, or codec demands before recording.
- Move the phone out of direct sunlight or away from hot stage lighting.
- Remove thick cases that trap heat.
- Keep the phone powered, but avoid chargers or battery packs that make it hotter.
- Let the phone cool between rehearsals and the main service.
- If a warning appears during recording, avoid touching the setup unless recording is already failing.
What to expect
- NodeCam monitors serious and critical thermal states and can show a warning banner.
- Heat can reduce performance, shorten battery life, or cause recording interruptions.
Common gotchas
- 4K, 60/120 FPS, ProRes, long services, and warm sanctuaries increase heat risk.
- A phone mounted in a window or under stage lights can overheat even when the room feels cool.
- Repeated heat warnings mean you should choose lower settings for the next take.
If you still need help
Contact NodeCam support with your session name, device model, iOS version, and a screenshot of any warning or error message. Do not delete recordings until upload, export, or transfer has been verified.
