How do invite links and QR codes work?
Use invite links and QR codes to bring volunteer camera phones into a NodeCam session quickly.
Before you start
- Make sure you are signed in to NodeCam on the phone you are using.
- Open the correct recording session before changing settings or recording.
- If you are working with volunteers, confirm who is the session owner and who is contributing a camera angle.
Steps
- Open Session Details as the session owner.
- Open the Invite section.
- Copy the invite link or show the QR code.
- Ask each volunteer to open the link or scan the code on the phone they will use as a camera.
- Have each volunteer sign in or create a free account if prompted.
- Confirm they see the correct session name before recording.
What to expect
- A contributor who joins from the link sees a recording-focused view.
- Owners can manage invite sharing, contributors, videos, export, and deletion.
- Contributors can record their part but do not need owner controls.
Common gotchas
- Do not post invite links publicly unless you intend anyone with the link to join.
- If a volunteer scans the code on the wrong device, resend or rescan on the camera phone.
- If joining fails, ask the owner to create a new invite link and check that the user is signed in.
If you still need help
Contact NodeCam support with your session name, device model, iOS version, and a screenshot of any warning or error message. Do not delete recordings until upload, export, or transfer has been verified.
