How do I start and stop recording?
Start and stop a NodeCam recording safely from the Recording Session screen.
Before you start
- Make sure you are signed in to NodeCam on the phone you are using.
- Open the correct recording session before changing settings or recording.
- If you are working with volunteers, confirm who is the session owner and who is contributing a camera angle.
Steps
- Open the session on each camera phone.
- Check the camera preview, framing, storage, battery, and sync warning area.
- When the service or rehearsal starts, tap REC or Start Recording.
- Watch the recording timer to confirm the phone is recording.
- Avoid switching apps or locking the phone while recording.
- When finished, tap Stop Recording.
- Confirm the stop action if NodeCam asks.
- Wait for NodeCam to save the recording and return to the session or completion screen.
What to expect
- The recording button changes state while recording.
- The timer increases during the take.
- After stopping, cloud sessions queue uploads and on-site sessions keep files on the phone for desktop transfer.
Common gotchas
- Stopping one phone does not guarantee every other volunteer stopped at the same time; coordinate clearly.
- If sync quality is poor before the take, fix WiFi and time sync before starting if possible.
- Do not force quit NodeCam immediately after stopping; let saving and queueing finish.
If you still need help
Contact NodeCam support with your session name, device model, iOS version, and a screenshot of any warning or error message. Do not delete recordings until upload, export, or transfer has been verified.
